Gerd is an independent consultant with over 25 years multidisciplinary experience of hydrogeological, geotechnical, water supply, environmental regulation and mining businesses both in the UK and overseas.

Gerd has previously worked for Arup, mining companies, the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and geotechnical engineering consultants. He has specialised in the field of groundwater engineering; water resource management; the evaluation and management of groundwater pollution risk; environmental impact assessment; and water industry asset and capital project management. He has been involved in all stages of water resource and supply projects, from feasibility and inception through construction, to operation and production asset management.

More recently his technical focus has broadened to include Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) and Aquifer Storage Recovery (ASR); the maintenance and rehabilitation of boreholes; groundwater aspects of geotechnical engineering particularly tunnelling and mining; and in numerical modelling studies. Much of his work is international, with projects mainly based in Asia and Africa.
