Hydrogeology: back to the future!

The Italian National Chapter of the IAH, in scientific partnership with FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and the
International Hydrological Programme of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), is honoured to host the 42nd IAH Annual Congress AQUA2015, in Rome, Italy, from 13th to 18th September 2015.

The Italian hydrogeological community extends a warm invitation to all who are involved in groundwater as scientists, professionals, students, officials, government administrators and policy makers, to participate and exchange knowledge, experiences and ideas on a variety of issues and themes related to groundwater.

Since AQUA2015 will be held in Rome, the Eternal City, the main spirit of the Congress is the link between the past and the future of hydrogeology, taking into account both the 2000-year history of water resource evaluation and supply, which started in Imperial Rome, and the need to consider and cope with future challenges related to groundwater resources.

This spirit is summarized in the AQUA2015 theme of “Back to the Future”, conjugating previous experience with future tools and needs, with a special focus on the global problem of groundwater use for food, in order to ensure a sustainable development for future generations.

The Early Career Hydrogeologists’ Network (ECHN) of IAH supports AQUA2015 in order to symbolize the bridge with the future of hydrogeology.
